No One to Help

“And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:20).

Are you distressed? Do you feel like there is no one to help you? Life gets hard. You will go through times when you are discouraged and depressed. There will be times when you feel totally alone. That is why we need God so much.

He is the only one who will always be there for us. The problem is, we don’t always feel like God is with us, even though He promises to be.

When our son had cancer, I felt totally abandoned by God. I didn’t pray for 6 months. I was afraid I would say something so horrible to God that I would be condemned. I was angry that God had permitted my son to have this disease. I was angry that I could not feel His comfort.

As time went on, I began to sense His presence again. I began to realize that He had been there all the time. I learned that He understood my grief and He did not condemn my anger. He understood it.

When you face your own trials, you may feel also as though God put you in a room alone and walked away. Yet, your feelings don’t make that true.
In Matthew, Jesus promises us He will never leave us. In John 14, He promises to send us the Holy Spirit. If the circumstances of your life have made you feel that God has deserted you, realize that other people have felt like that too. Wait just a short while longer.

You will see the goodness of God. He promises.
