He Never Leaves

“But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother”  (Proverbs 18:24).

The wonderful part about having Jesus as a close friend is that He does not leave you when life gets hard. And life will get hard from time to time; that is how life is.

If you are in a dangerous situation, if you are in a financially desperate situation, or if you are deep in family problems, I challenge you to read John 6. Twice in the same 24-hour period, Jesus performs miracles for His friends. First, He feeds 5,000 people with loaves and fishes. Next, He walks on water and guides a boatful of people safely to shore during a storm at sea.

The sad thing about this chapter is that even after Jesus showed how He could take care of them, the people got fed up and left Him anyway.

Jesus never leaves us like that.

Sometimes things happen in life that we do not expect.

• Your husband leaves you.
• Your baby is sick.
• You are pregnant and you do not want to be.
• Your teenager runs away.
• Your husband hurts you.
• Your parents need money.

No one person has solutions for all of life’s problems, but there is someone who does. He is Jesus. The best thing about Him is that when things get hard, Jesus will not take off. He stays. He is closer than a brother.

You will find, after you have experienced it, that if you have Jesus, you do not really need anyone else. Wait and see.
