God’s Indescribable Gift

This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, men will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift! 2 Corinthians 9:12-15

Meditation: Christ came into the world to give His life so that mankind could be reconciled to God. This is absolutely incredible! Jesus left the glory of Heaven to live as a man and died a horrible death as the sacrifice for mankind’s sin. Yet, more and more, we see Christ being pushed out of our culture today. Simply amazing! How can mankind so easily reject such a gift?

Even people who claim Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord join in the frenzy of consumerism and worldly celebrations of Christmas and Easter. Many forget about the true meaning of Christ’s coming to earth and dying for mankind’s sin. They often make little difference in the world, being more like the world than their Savior. They care more for themselves and not the poor or other Christians in need. Too often, people reject Him because of the incredible hypocrisy they see in those who claim to be the children of God. Men, this should not be so! God has given us the indescribable gift of His own sacrificial gift. How can we not give to others? We need to be generous and seek to supply the needs of others, especially since we have experienced His resurrection and life in abundance.

Challenge: What effect does God’s indescribable give have on you? Is the evidence of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ evident in your life? Stop and take some time to reflect on God’s indescribable gift—the gift of His sacrifice for you. Be obedient to Christ and live your life for Him, making a positive difference in the world around you.

Thought for the Day: Lord, help me to remember the gift you have given me and help me to be a giving person, one that will bring praise to You.
