Is God Listening?

John 9:31: “We know that God does not listen to sinners. He listens to the godly man who does his will.”

God knows that the man who listens to His commands and does what He says—the obedient man—will do what is right.  “To whom much is given, much will be required.”  As we show God that we are ready and willing to do His will, He will pour out His Spirit on us.  As we give, God gives back, and we in turn give back to God.  God knows that the person who does not do His will will not use what He is given.  Why then should He even listen to him, if he will not listen to God?

II Samuel 22:4: “I call to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies.”

God is worthy to be lifted up.  He has proven Himself faithful through the ages, and now we too must be faithful in our service and our worship to Him.  God hears His people when they are in need and when they pray, and He answers those prayers faithfully, as He is faithful.  He is the Deliverer of His people, the Passover Lamb, the Sacrifice for the world.  He has saved His people and set them apart.  In doing so, He has promised protection and sanctuary for them as well.  When we are in trouble, the first we should turn to is God.  Even when we are not in trouble, it is God who has been faithful above all else; He deserves praise simply for who He is.
