“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.  Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.  These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.  Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.  Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.  Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.” (Deuteronomy 6:4-9)

“Where do I invest myself?  Is it in my relationship with God?  Is He a part of everything I do?  Is He included in all that I say and do and think?”

When He is, His truth becomes ingrained in us, and goes with us, and is passed on in our conversation, our actions and thoughts, our family and friends.  When we identify ourselves with Christ by taking up our cross and crucifying our flesh and keeping ourselves pure and holy and letting our love for God become our number one priority, there is nothing that can take that away.  Our relationship God must be eternal, for there is nothing of God that is temporary.

Everything else will fade and dissipate and be destroyed.  But there is nothing above or beside our God, for He is eternal.  When we put our relationship with Him in the same terms, He will go with us wherever we go and whatever we do.  We will be one with Him as Christ is, and we will be eternal temples for Him to dwell in.  He will eternally be our God, and we will eternally be His people.
