The Questions Jesus Asks

Here are a few of the many questions Jesus asked in different situations throughout the gospels. Meditate upon each one, as if Jesus was personally asking you each of these questions:

What shall a man give in exchange for his soul?  Mark 8:37

Why does this generation seek after a sign?    Mark 8:12

Did you not know I must be about My Father’s business?  Luke 2:49

Why are you troubled?    Luke 24:38

Whom do men say that I am?  Mark 8:27

How is it that you have no faith?    Mark 4:40

Are you able to drink of the cup I drink of?  Matthew 20:22

Why do you think evil in your heart?  Matthew 9:4

Why do you transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? Matthew 15:3

Could you not watch with Me one hour?  Matthew 26:40

Why do you tempt Me?  Mark 12:15

What will you have Me do unto you?      Luke 18:41

Read this short list of questions again. Internalize those which may apply to you in your current situation in life. Consult the passages in which these questions appear and read the context.

The Lord’s questions are always probing. They see deep inside of us. He knows what human beings are desperately seeking. Throughout His ministry, He asks the questions that tend to result in the deepest self-examination and soul-searching.
