The Only Words Jesus Wrote

What Jesus Wrote in the Dust

                        -Author Unknown

We have pardoned the man who has killed,
We have forgiven the one who stole;
We have restored the pride of the boy who lied,
And precious we call his soul.

But for her who fell, we have opened hell
With condemnation cold and unjust;
And since those days of old, no one has been told
What Jesus wrote in the dust.

Men regret, sometimes, their brothers crimes
And bid them be of good cheer;
But of personal sins they will not speak, for their flesh is weak
And pretend their conscience is clear.

Sexist men who blaspheme and lie
Would destroy this woman’s soul;
They pick up their sticks and gather their bricks
And judge her fit for Sheol.

Though she finds the grace of Christ,
In His mercy we do not trust;
Jesus set her free, yet we refuse to see
What Jesus wrote in the dust.

We look away from the one gone astray,
As all the self-righteous must;
We accuse and recite our creed, for we will not read
What Jesus wrote in the dust.

Maxim of the Moment

Woman was formed by God - out of man's side to be equal, from under his arm for protection, and near his heart to be loved.
