Advice for Soulwinners

Read and ponder these 3-word sentences regarding winning the lost.
Each one can be traced directly to the Word of God.
Look up additional verses that complement these triple-word maxims.

Obey the Commission (Mt. 28:19). “Go and teach all nations”
Wise Christians witness (Pv. 11:30). “He that wins souls is wise”
Value every soul (Mk.8:37). “What would you exchange for your soul?”
Love the lost (Lk. 6:5). “Love your enemies”
Sinners are invited (Mk. 10:21). “Come, take up the cross and follow Me”.
Go prayed up (I Th. 5:17). “Pray without ceasing”
Appreciate the privilege (I Pet. 2:17). “Honor the King”
Represent Jesus Christ (II Cor.5:20). “We are ambassadors for Christ”
Forgiveness is fundamental (Mk. 2:10). “The Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”

Maintain positive demeanor.
Avoid annoying mannerisms.
Show no fear.
Nervousness is contagious.

Prepare for rejection.
Guide the conversation.
Bypass personal histories.
Don’t get sidetracked.
Circumvent controversial topics.
Ask relevant questions.

Preaching isn’t witnessing.

Use no threats.
Never be argumentative.
Condescension is counterproductive.

Maintain Scriptural authority.
Listen very deliberately.
Observe their responses.
Presumptions are unreliable.
Interpret body language.
Evaluate your progress.

Soulwinning breeds blessings.
Remember heaven rejoices (Lk.15:10). “There is joy in heaven over one sinner that repents”.

The first law of fishing is to go where the fish are. Soulwinners go where the people are. Jesus commands us to go into the highways and byways and compel them to come in (Luke 14:23). Study these passages concerning “who told who” about Jesus:

What the soulwinner must know:

1. You must know Jesus personally.
2. You must know some soulwinning verses, such as:
Romans 3:23 – all have sinned……
Romans 6:23 – the wages of sin is death….
Romans 10:9-10 – confessing Jesus Christ as Lord…..
I John 5:13 – believing in Christ…..
II Corinthians 5:17 – concerning becoming a new person in Jesus Christ……
3. You must know that the Holy Spirit must convict a person of sin, not you.
4. You must believe in the power of God to save.
5. You must know the tendency of humans to resist the Gospel.
6. You must know that prayer is essential, not optional.
7. You must be tactful, clear, and courteous.

What the sinner must know:

1. That Jesus bore their sin on the cross – Isaiah 53:6
2. That Jesus was raised from the dead on their behalf – Romans 4:24
3. That Jesus is interceding for us right now – Hebrews 7:25
4. That knowing Jesus is as simple as ABC:

Accept the truth of the Gospel
Believe that Jesus’ blood atoned for their sins
Confess that Jesus is their Lord and Savior

People often tend to shy away from this business of soulwinning because they fear being rejected or misunderstood. But winning the lost is an intimate aspect of our relationship with Jesus. He told us that if we are ashamed of Him, He will be ashamed of us before the Father and before His angels (Luke 9:26). Going to “the highways and the hedges” may be as simple as visiting your next door neighbor. Reading devotionals may inspire you, but winning the lost will transform you.
