Why Do Bad Things Happen to Me?

“The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: ‘I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness’” (Jeremiah 31:3, NIV).

If we believe God is in control of everything, we must accept that He allows pain to enter our lives. When it does, we have a choice. We can either overcome the pain, or we can be overcome by it.

Jesus wants you to know He understands your pain and knows your need.

The Bible says that God will never leave us or forsake us. He walks with us into every painful experience and He stays with us through them, whether we feel His presence or not.

When our son was sick with cancer, I could not feel God’s presence. Nevertheless, good things started happening; we found an excellent hospital, we received financial aid for prescriptions, I met many caring people who enriched my life; our son got well.

Now, years later, I see how God took care of us. I see why He let it happen.

If you are dealing with pain, don’t try to answer all the questions. Trust Him to provide for you, to help you, to rescue you. Even if you can’t understand it right now, God has a wonderful plan for your life!
