The Scriptures use a number of emblems, symbols, and allegories to describe itself.
Here are a few examples:

BREAD
“Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God”  (Deuteronomy 8:3)

FIRE
“Is not my Word like a fire, saith the Lord”  (Jeremiah 23:9)

GOLD
“I love thy commandments more than fine gold”  (Psalm 119:127)

HAMMER
“My Word is like a hammer that breaks things in pieces, saith the Lord”  (Jeremiah 23:29)

HONEY
“Thy Word is sweeter than the honeycomb”  (Psalm 19:10)

LIGHT
“Thy Word is a light unto my feet and a light unto my path”  (Psalm 119:105)

MEAT
“The Word of righteousness, like strong meat, belongs to those who are fully mature”  (Hebrews 5:13-14)

MILK
“As newborn babies, desire the sincere milk of the Word that you may grow thereby”  (I Peter 2:2)

SEED
“The seed is the Word of God”  (Luke 8:11)

SWORD
“The Word of God is sharper than any two-edged sword”  (Hebrews 4:12)
