For, though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 2 Corinthians 10:3-4
Meditation: Very often, Christians fight their battles with same the weapons the world uses. They utilize their skills, strengths and talents and forget that the battle is not theirs to fight. The battle belongs to the Lord and Christians need to remain focused on Him. Confusion arises from the fact that we tend to think of battles and wars in our limited, world-focused minds. The battle is not what we think it is. It is in the spiritual realm and not the temporal. We are not battling tanks and rockets, but spiritual strongholds for people’s lives. Individuals are not won to Christ under the threat of a sword or a bullet. They are won through the love of Christ and the truth of His Word.
The Christian’s weapons are the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness and the sword of the Spirit—the Word of God. Schemes, plans and manipulations don’t change lives. Prayer and the work of the Holy Spirit does. Facing a problem with a trust in God, doing what is right and using the Word of God will do much more than attempting to work out a solution by our own thoughts and plans. It takes surrendering to the Lord and walking in His Spirit. When we fight our battles this way, we will see God do mighty and awesome work.
Challenge: Do you trust in the Lord and submit to Him? Or do you attempt to work through the challenges of life through your own strength and wisdom? Take up God’s weapons and fight your battles trusting and relying on Him and no one else.
Thought for the Day: Lord, help me to remain focused on You and fight the battles I fight in Your strength with Your weapons.
