Imagine having a perfect Friend, one who will never lie to you and always tell you the truth no matter what. Try to conceive of an Individual who can never make a mistake and always has your best interest at heart. Such is the precious Holy Spirit of God. Let’s examine a few aspects of His personality.

<> The Holy Spirit adopts Believers. "You have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry Abba, Father" (Romans 8:15).

<> The Holy Spirit gives you assurance. “After you believed, you were sealed by the Holy Spirit. He is your guarantee, the first installment of our inheritance” (Ephesians 1:13-14).

<> He gives us access to God. "We have access by one Spirit to the Father" (Ephesians 2:18).

<> He anoints us for ministry. “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good tidings” (Isaiah 61:1).  Luke 4:18

<> The Holy Spirit is our Comforter. "The churches were edified, walking in the comfort of the Holy Spirit" (Acts 9:31). “The Father will give you another Comforter” (John 14: 16-18)

<> The Holy Spirit confirms our salvation. “The Spirit bears witness with our spirits that we are the children of God (Romans 8:16).

<> He strives with sinners to convict them of sin and lead them to Christ. “When He is come, He will convict the world of sin” (John 16:8) Genesis 6:3

<> He commissions and directs men and women for ministry. “The Lord God and His Spirit hath sent me” (Isaiah 48:16)

<> The Holy Spirit helps us discern both good and evil spirits (I Cor. 12:10).

<> He is our Defender. “When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him” (Isaiah 59:19).

<> The Holy Spirit empowers us for God’s service. "You shall receive power after the Holy Spirit has come upon you" (Acts 1:8). "Truly I am full of power by the Spirit of the Lord" (Micah 3:8). “Tarry in Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high" (Luke 24:49). Romans 15:13

<> He gives us freedom. “The law of the Spirit of life has made me free from the law of sin and death” (Romans 8:2). “Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom” (II Cor. 3:17)

<> The Holy Spirit is productive within Believers, producing spiritual fruit (Galatians 5:22-23).

<> He guides our spiritual life. “I will put my Spirit within you and cause you to walk in my statutes” (Ezekiel 36:27). “As many as are led by the Spirit, they are the sons of God” (Romans 8:14).

<> The Holy Spirit is a gift. "The Father will give the good gift of the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him" (Luke 11:13).

<> The Spirit distributes gifts to Believers according to God’s will. “God bears them witness through gifts of the Holy Spirit” (I Cor. 12:7-11).

<> The Holy Spirits originates and is sent from heaven (I Peter 1:12).

<> He is preeminently a holy Person. “Jesus will baptize you with the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 3:11).

<> He gives Believers hope. “We abound in hope through the power of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:13).

<> He is humble. “He will not speak of Himself, but rather glorify Christ” (John 16:14).

<> He inspires people to praise the Lord. “God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying. ‘Abba, Father’” (Galatians 4:6).

<> He is an intercessor between Believers and God. “The Spirit makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God” (Romans 8:26-27).

<> He is an interpreter of dreams (Daniel 5:12).

<> He dwells within Believers. “The Spirit of truth…..shall be in you” (John 14:17). “Be filled with the Spirit” (Ephesians 5:18). “They were all filled with the Spirit” (Acts 4:31).

<> He invites us into God’s presence. "The Spirit and the bride say ‘Come’" (Revelation 22:17).

<> He gives us joy. (I Thessalonians 1:6).  “The disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit” (Acts 13:52). 
Romans 14:17

<> He gives us love. "The love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit" (Romans 5:5).

<> He gives us life. “I shall put my Spirit in you and you shall live” (Ezekiel 37:14). “The Spirit gives life” (II Corinthians 3:6). 
Romans 8:11-13

<> He performs miracles. “God bears witness with miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit” (Hebrews 2:4). Acts 8:39

<> He is the Believer’s Mentor. “Words which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual” (I Corinthians 2:13).  “The Spirit will teach you in that same hour what you ought to speak” (Luke 12:12).

<> He is omnipresent (present everywhere). “Where can I flee from the presence of God’s Spirit?” (Psalm 139:7).

<> He gives us spiritual power. “You shall receive power after the Holy Spirit has come upon you and you will be My witnesses” (Acts 1:8).

<> The Holy Spirit is essential for dynamic preaching. "They have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Spirit" (I Peter 1:12).

<> He is prophetic. “Holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit”  (II Peter 1:21). “The Spirit of Truth will show you things to come” (John 16:13).

Hebrews 3:7

<> The Holy Spirit purifies, refines, and purges. "The Lord shall purge Jerusalem by the Spirit of judgment and by the Spirit of burning" (Isaiah 4:4).

<> He guides us in our prayers. “Pray in the Holy Spirit” (Jude 20).

<> The Holy Spirit must be absolutely respected at all times. “Whoever blasphemes the Holy Spirit will never receive forgiveness (Mark 3:29).

<> The Holy Spirit reveals many things. “The Spirit of truth will show you things to come” (John 16:13-14). “It was revealed to him by the Holy Sprit (Luke 2:26). 
Acts 15:28

<> He renews our souls. "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but by the renewing of the Holy Spirit" (Titus 3:5).
II Cor. 4:16

<> He is our Resource for remembering vital spiritual information. “He will bring to your remembrance all that I have taught you” (John 14:26).

<> He restrains us from actions at certain times. “They were forbidden to preach the Word in Asia” (Acts 16:6-7).

<> He resurrects Believers. “The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead will also resurrect your mortal bodies” (Rom. 8:11).

<> The Holy Spirit sanctifies us and promotes holy living. "We are saved through sanctification of the Holy Spirit and belief in the truth” (II Thessalonians 2:13).
Romans 15:16

<> He searches our hearts. “The Spirit searches all things, yea, the deep things of God” (I Corinthians 2:10).

<> He gives us strength. "Uphold me with your free Spirit" (Psalm 51:12).
Ephesians 3:16-17

<> He testifies concerning Jesus Christ.  “The Spirit of truth shall testify about Me” (John 15:26). “No man can say ‘Jesus is Lord’ except by the Holy Spirit” (I Corinthians 12:3). 
I Peter 1:11

<> He unifies Believers. "Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace" (Ephesians 4:3).

<> We witness to others by the Holy Spirit. “We are witnesses, as is also the Holy Spirit” (Acts 5:32).
