Passionate for Christ

“To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation. I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm-neither hot nor cold-I am about to spit you out of my mouth. Revelation 3:14-17

Meditation: Jesus Christ gave His life for us. He set the standard and showed us by example how we are to live our lives for Him. Are we passionate for Him or are we lukewarm? Clifford James, in the Blueprint, asks: “We say we want to be like Jesus. Do we?  Do we really? Will we follow a man so intent on accomplishing his God’s will that we, like him, will give up our home, abandon any chance for monetary comfort, travel and teach free of charge and endure the ridicule of those esteemed among our own people? Are we willing to live by faith accepting the charity of others for our daily bread, confident that God will touch someone’s heart daily so our needs will be met? As previously stated, will we make Christ part of our life and be satisfied that that is all that is needed or will we, holding back nothing, be prepared to give our very lives for the sake of the gospel; will we make Christ the very center of our existence, the core of our being and the heart of our life?” The Early Church

We don’t necessarily have to sell everything and take a vow of poverty to follow Christ, but what have we given up? Most of us have not given up much, if anything to follow Christ. We accept the salvation, but not the Lordship of our Savior. Often we don’t live by faith. We sit on the sidelines and watch others do all the work. There is little passion for Christ in our life, and we rarely ever trust in Him enough to see Him work in our life. We tend to live only for ourselves and have little or no passion for serving the God of the universe who has given us the promise of eternal life and an abundant life with so many blessings. We can not even comprehend it all.

Challenge: Are you passionate for Christ? Is He the driving force of your life? Or are you too busy living life for yourself to serve your Savior with a whole heart? Are you lukewarm? Or hot for Christ and willing to follow His lead wherever it may take you? Serve God in all that you do. Be useful for extending the Kingdom and ministering to the people God brings into your life.

Thought for the Day: Lord, help me to be passionate for You, to serve You in all that I do.
