Mission Impossible

“Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing” (2 Timothy 4:8).

Remember the old TV series “Mission Impossible?” The program started with these words every week: “Your mission, should you choose to accept it….” Then the message would continue, assigning to the hero some task of gigantic proportion.

A couple months ago, I met an amazing man. He lives most of the year in Asia and a few months in the United States. When he is in Asia, he writes and produces two radio programs a week, ministers weekly in three different churches and conducts five Bible study groups.
His wife is an invalid, so he takes care of her. He also plays tennis. When he is in the United States, he practices medicine.

What is so amazing about this man? He is 86 years old.

This man exercises and eats right, but I doubt that is the real secret of his youthful life style. I think it is this: he is totally caught up in God’s work. He is sold out. He never wastes a single minute. When he is not working or ministering to people, he is asking God what to do next.

God trusts him. He is a wonderful old man!

When you think about the kind of old person you want to be, what do you think about?

I want to be kind. I want to be happy and never bitter. I want to be exactly like my friend who never finds a mission impossible.
