God Always Keeps His Promises

“He who testifies to these things says, ‘Yes, I am coming soon.’ Amen. Come, Lord Jesus” (Revelation 22:20).

God always keeps His promises. One of the promises He made is that Jesus will return to earth to take all of us who have faith in Him to heaven. Do you believe this? Does it affect how you live your life?

I remember staying at my grandfather’s house when I was a little girl. Every evening, my sister and I eagerly waited on the porch for him to come home. We could not wait to hear his stories of the day. We would sit with him in the twilight and watch the small animals in the garden go to sleep.

One morning, before my grandfather left for work, he spoke seriously to me. “Each day as you play, you and your sister are trampling on the flowers in the garden. They are starting to die. I want you to promise me that you will not play in the garden at all,” he said. I promised, and he left for work.

I really meant to keep my promise, but the day was hot and the garden looked cool. Soon, I forgot all about it, and my friends and I started playing there like always.

Suddenly, it was time for my grandfather to come home. It was then that I remembered my promise. I did not want to wait for my grandfather on the porch. I was too ashamed.

If you are not looking forward to the return of Christ, maybe you are feeling ashamed. It is time to get ready, to change your attitude and to keep your promise.

Determine to start again. It is not yet too late.
