Christian Heritage

“And when your children ask you, ‘What does this ceremony mean to you?’ then tell them . . . ” (Exodus 12:26,27).

Jewish families have such an interesting custom. Each year, they celebrate the Passover holiday. At the Passover meal, they tell their children how centuries ago, God delivered their ancestors from slavery.

The children grow up with a sense of religious heritage and a certainty that God has directed their nation and family.

It is important that your children have a sense of their religious history too. They need to know and understand that God has His hand on them. They need to know how God has guided your family in past generations.

This will encourage them to trust Him.

We often tell our sons how and when we asked Jesus Christ into our hearts to be our personal Savior. The boys were involved in the decision making process when our family came to missions. They know the miracles of healing and finances that God has done and continues
to do in our lives.

They know we expect them to maintain their relationship with the Lord throughout their lives, and to teach their children as well.

When your children reach the stormy teen years, knowing their spiritual heritage will give them a sense of belonging and identity. Hopefully, it will make them strong enough to avoid giving in to temptation. The sense of a whole family serving God makes it harder for them to turn away from your values.
