Beware the Quarrelsome Wife

“A quarrelsome wife is like a constant dripping” (Proverbs 19:13).

It was just one of those days. I had a lot of suggestions for everyone! I wanted my husband to help me move furniture. I wanted the kids to put their things away. I wanted the neighbor to clean up his garden.

I was so noisy telling all these people all these things that I even made myself tired!

It was not that I wanted to be unpleasant. I was on a tight schedule and wanted everyone around to help me accomplish my goals. The only thing was, my goals were not necessarily their goals.

I know my family wished that I would have just disappeared that day. I knew I was nagging, but I just could not seem to stop. Have you ever had a day like that?

When I behave badly, there are things I do to help myself settle down. I get alone and try to be quiet for a few minutes. Being quiet and alone always seems to help me regain control of myself.

Then, I pray and ask Jesus to help me control my attitude and slow down. I ask Him especially to help me control my tongue and speak gentle words, not harsh ones.

I take a deep breath, go back to my family and apologize. Not for trying to get the task done, but for my disposition.

The Bible says that in quietness and trust is our strength. Jesus can help us keep quiet and calm as we trust in Him.
